Back in the 1920s, psychologist William Marston established the roots of what people now know as the DISC personality test which focuses on differentiating the ways in which individuals will be able to react to a particular environment.
As stated in Marston’s studies, he shows that every person is born to have a specific kind of profile or personality and it is based on these characteristics that a person is able to respond when faced with a particular situation or environment.
Personality 1 – Dominance
Those who feel at ease most of the time and are comfortable with their environment are seen to have the dominance personality. People who belong in this personality type are deemed to have confidence and are unfazed with any kind of challenge given to them. As part of the work force however, it may be difficult to deal with these personalities as they see themselves far better and too superior than the scenario that they belong in.
Personality 2 – Inducement
Another personality type that see themselves positively and look to themselves favorably are those who belong in the inducement personality. Individuals who fall in this category have an optimistic disposition and value themselves with high regard. Compared to those with dominance, these personalities see their current situation positively as well and find good opportunity in the circumstances that they experience and the scenario that they belong in.
Personality 3 – Submission
In terms of personality, those with submission find it difficult to see themselves in a positive light and are more often than not see themselves negatively. People in this category have little to no confidence in themselves which leads to lack of trust in their own capacity. Seeing their environment though brings a bit more promise since to this they react positively and with comfort.
Personality 4 – Compliance
Probably the most difficult personality to relate with are those with compliance because not only do they see themselves too weak and lacking in confidence, they also perceive their environment negatively. Dealing with compliance may take a lot of effort as these personalities have low self esteem and are bothered with their environment as well.
Taking the opportunity to look into the type of personality that you have is a good tool in order to better understand how you stand in particular scenarios, whether at school, at work or in personal circumstances, and see to it that you become fully aware of how to cope with daily challenges.
